Born on the highly pressured and technical tailwaters of the South Platte River in Colorado, the Chocolate Thunder (aka. Foam Wing Emerger) is a super effective fly pattern for tempting shy trout! Sharing many elements with other proven tailwater flies such as the Black Beauty, Top Secret Midge, and RSII, the foam wing and realistic profile make this fly an deadly match for a host of mayfly and midge species!

Chocolate Thunder flies are the best
Fished Eleven Mile Canyon for 4 consecutive days, using CT flies almost exclusively. They were wildly popular with the fish, getting bites almost immediately after casting. We tried many other similar flies, and got no fish-interest at all. Amazing.

Caught 5 fish in 5 casts at Deckers!
Love the chocolate thunder from Ascent. I always appreciate how well made these flies are especially because of the price. I fish mainly 11 mile canyon and Deckers and every time I go the chocolate thunder does well. Thanks!

A Decker must have
A perfect winter fly on the South Platte and the North Platte.

Magnet for Browns
I fish the "Driftless" Trout Region in the Midwest. I used these flies while fishing the Canyon at Decker's Colorado and caught a 22" Brown on a size #22 Chocolate Thunder. I had a few left over and I started using them in the Driftless. I don't leave home without these in my fly box anymore. They are like a magnet for Browns no matter where you fly fish in the world.

One of the best nymphs for the Deckers area.

Chocolate Thunder
Don't leave home without them. The most productive emerger in my box.

A MUST have in Deckers/Cheesman
This fly is a must have for anyone fishing the South Platte, and especially in the Deckers/Cheesman Canyon waters. I have had a ton of success using the Ascent specific Chocolate Thunder (#22), really a must own for anyone fishing in that area.
