Copper John
Fishing with a Copper John can be most accurately compared to fishing with dynamite! This heavy metal pattern is a quick sinker, is wrapped in lead and copper wire, and is capped with a brass bead. While it doesn't attempt to match any particular invertebrate species, it can be effectively fished to imitate mayfly nymphs or a juvenile stonefly when fished in larger sizes.
This pattern falls among the ranks of Attractors, playing the role of Mrs. Robinson to Dustin Hoffman's Graduate, and is one of the most effective flies in seducing a strike from even the most reluctant fish!
