Though often confused with fresh water shrimp, scud are among a family of "side swimmers" and are a key staple in the diet of trophy trout in both lakes and rivers. Varying in color from olive to pink, these protein-packed crustaceans try to stay close to the aquatic vegetation and algae on which they feed. In the water that they live, Scud can offer offer some of the best action of the year and are among the go-to patterns for lake and tailwater anglers across the nation!
Our scud selections are built to account for the size and genetic color variations that the angler will encounter on the water.
The Small Selection includes 12 scud patterns, touching on all of the colors but not repeating any one size.
The Medium Selection includes 24 scud patterns, hitting all of the colors and patterns we tie and creating some repetition in the most important sizes.
The Large Selection is for the committed trophy trout hunter, and includes 36 scud patterns and goes deep on all of the colors and sizes we tie.

Fishing Tip: When fishing scud on rivers, we recommend doubling up with a scud dropper after rain storms or during runoff when more scud are washed out of cover and made available to feeding trout.
