No family of flies better covers the mayfly emerger life stage than the RSII! Trout eagerly anticipate the time when the mayfly nymphs break cover from the bottom of the lake or river and make their way towards the surface. What happens next can best be compared to a bunch of tourists trying to run with the bulls in Spain! It is a massacre!
The traditional RS2 is tied with a CDC or Antron wing, a thin body, and a light hackle tail, and is the standard after which most mayfly emerger patterns are tied. This pattern is among our top 5 producers and can be fished all four seasons and in almost any water.

A Colorado classic
Targeted some sipping trout, tied this as a trailer behind my Amy’s Ant and immediately a sizable brown took it and I landed it on the first cast. So it obviously works and works well.

RSII
Used all day 5/6 at Grey Reef in Casper, landed 20+ on this fly bought from Ascent fly fishing. Tried other flies that same day, ended up putting 2 grey RSII flies on and was not disappointed.

Great fly
I am only giving this 4 stars because I am unable to get out and fish. The fly looks and feels great. Having been a tyer before old age hit, I can see that this is tied very good.
