In this film, you will Join Aquatic Biologist Peter Stitcher for an in-depth look at trout foods and the flies we use to imitate them.  In this step-by-step tutorial, Peter will walk you through the Hatch Organization Method, which will equip you to identify EVERY fly in your fly box according to the insects and life cycles they imitate, and repack them in a simple, intuitive way in order to quickly and easily match every hatch on the water.   Once you have watched and applied this video, one page of your fly box will be dedicated to the aquatic life cycle of trout foods under the surface of the water, while the opposite page of your box will be dedicated to the adult life cycles flying and floating on top of the water.  Each row in your fly box will be dedicated to an order (family of flies) - midges, mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies, etc. which will allow you to quickly find the correct flies in your box when on the water and follow that hatch as it progresses simply by running your finger across a single row in your fly box!  Never again will you have to guess what the flies in your box imitate or when to fish them!

    Very good

Very well thought out and informative video and system. I just wished it had info in the end about the, PAUSE and MATCH method. Maybe it did and I was too busy setting up my boxes. If they ever choose to do a second edition I think it would be cool to see them on the river with a seine showing mayflies, caddis etc in different stages and matching them with flies from a box to really give a full complete view of the system at work.

I found the video very informative. A step by step method for organizing a fly box. I learned about entemology as well as the flys that match the patterns. Plan use the Hatch method to reorganize my fly box in preparation for spring fishing.

    Fly Box Organisation

I found the DVD to be very useful. I have looked for ages to find some source of information to identify insect families and to connect them with flys that are out there. this DVD helped a lot. Besides organizing a box it gave me a methodology to actually identify insects vs. flys. Very good stuff.

Great Video for Organizing the fly box

Posted by Travis Krause, Artofangling.org on 2nd Jun 2017

Just picked this up to supplement the Microbrews and Mayflies class. The video format is excellent for this topic. I can preview a section and go back and re-watch it as I absorb and use the information! Very clear and instructive video. Fills in a lot of gaps I had in my fly fishing knowledge.... also makes time on the water more dedicated to fishing, not searching around for the right fly.
